Therapy for Teens and Adults
In-Person and Online
Maybe it feels like your brain has 100 tabs open and you’re paralyzed with indecision, overwhelmed by the choices. How do we unfreeze you from this?
You are not Yoda, and it’s OK not to be perfect! Life doesn’t have to fit together perfectly like Lego! Well, it’s time to make your own magic and take your life Back! You need support, expertise and real life, practical direction.
The NOT SO “one size all” Approach
I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” therapy approach since as we know – we are all different and one brain very much differs from another.
In my practice I use an integrative and eclectic therapy approach that is tailored towards the individual. My approach is solution focused and includes techniques and strategies from a variety of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-based Practices, Polyvagal Therapy, and Expressive Therapy (Art/Games/Video Games).
I currently provide counselling services Online, In-person (Kelowna), as well as over the Phone for clients that reside within British Columbia.
My Areas of Specialty
Therapy for Epilepsy
Living with Epilepsy is like walking on a tightrope, day after day. For some, the triggers for their seizures may be well known; while for others they are random and unexpected. In fact, did you know that 1 in 26 people develop epilepsy over their lifetime and 1 in 100 people currently live with epilepsy?
Sometimes it’s not even about the seizure at all. Individuals with Epilepsy often feel misunderstood and isolated. And many suffer from depression, anxiety, and severe mental illness. The disorder itself is highly stigmatized, but the very nature of Epilepsy can cause major lifestyle limitations; transportation, swimming, concerts, some jobs, ect. The treatment is complicated and sometimes very much ineffective as the brain itself is still very much a mystery. Even family members struggle with how to support individuals with epilepsy as sometimes the seizures can be overwhelming.
As a person living with Epilepsy, I understand the battle of the everyday, the secrecy behind it, and the strive for independence. Not to mention the anger you feel when you get asked “how do you feel?” or “did you take your pills?” for the fourth time in one day.
Let’s work together to use that awesome brain of yours to work with you and not against you.
